Foundational research has measured what actually increases visibility in generated answers: citing sources, including specific figures, using clear formulations, and building entity authority. GEO does not replace ranking — generative engines draw first from pages already well positioned — it optimizes the second selection, the moment a passage is chosen to be quoted.
