A category page lists products in a family and targets high-volume generic queries. Its SEO optimization relies on a unique introductory text, a precise H1, cleanly managed facet filters, and internal links to subcategories and key product pages.

In practice

Most category pages contain only a product grid — no text, no thematic signal. A paragraph of 80 to 120 words placed above or below the grid, written around commercial intent keywords ('buy', 'compare', 'best'), is enough to qualify the page. Across a site with 300 categories, this work alone can double transactional organic traffic.
