Open data and AI

Open data refers to datasets that are freely accessible, reusable, and redistributable. For AI models, these datasets serve as training or grounding sources that shape the quality and neutrality of responses in the relevant domains.

In practice

Data.gouv.fr, Wikidata, and open web archives feed the training corpora of major models. A company that publishes its data under an open license — price database, sector statistics, technical glossary — increases its chances of being incorporated into these corpora and therefore cited in future responses. This is a long-term visibility strategy: open content published today may appear in models trained twelve to twenty-four months from now.
