Dwell time
Dwell time is the duration between clicking a search result and returning to the SERP. A long dwell time signals to Google that the page satisfied the user’s intent; an immediate return (pogo sticking) suggests the opposite and can influence future ranking decisions.
In practice
Google has never officially confirmed using dwell time as a ranking signal, but strong correlations exist between well-ranked pages and high consultation time. To increase it: embed visuals, comparison tables, or videos that sustain attention, and ensure the answer to the primary intent appears on the first screen rather than after a lengthy preamble.
