Helpful content

Google’s helpful content system evaluates whether a site produces content primarily for people or primarily for search engines. Integrated into the main ranking system since 2024, it acts at the site level, not page by page in isolation.

In practice

Its reference questions are public: does the content provide first-hand experience? Does it leave the reader satisfied, or searching elsewhere for the answer? A batch of shallow pages can weigh down an entire domain — the most concrete argument for regularly pruning content that serves no one.
