Marketplace vs. owned website (SEO)

Selling on a marketplace (Amazon, Cdiscount) generates immediate sales but builds no SEO equity of your own: authority stays with the platform. An owned website builds a durable asset — rankings, backlinks, customer data — but requires a longer SEO investment.

A supplement seller generating 90% of revenue on Amazon launched its own domain in parallel, using Amazon reviews as social proof on its own pages.
