Click-through rate (CTR)

Click-through rate is the ratio of clicks to impressions for a search result. At the same position, it reveals how attractive a title and description are compared to neighboring results.

In practice

Average CTR by position provides a benchmark — the first organic position captures roughly a quarter to a third of clicks depending on the SERP composition — but each query has its own shape. An abnormally low CTR at a strong position signals a title worth reworking, or a SERP saturated with blocks that divert attention.
