Franchisee association

An organisation representing franchisees of a network in dealings with the franchisor. It acts as a collective voice to negotiate contract changes, marketing policies, operational standards, and renewal terms.

In practice

Franchisee associations serve as a constructive counterweight in balanced networks. They channel field feedback in an organised way and prevent individual disputes from escalating in isolation. A franchisor that blocks the formation of a franchisee association creates the conditions for a collective rupture. In France, several networks have faced class-action proceedings brought by associations that documented contractual breaches by the franchisor.
