Content provenance
Content provenance refers to the set of metadata that traces the origin, modification history, and authors of a digital asset. It establishes the chain of trust of information from creation to consumption.
In practice
The C2PA standard (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) allows attaching cryptographically signed metadata to an image or article, specifying who created it, with what tool, and on what date. For an SEO agency producing studies and infographics, adopting C2PA allows proving the authenticity and production date of its content — a competitive advantage as search engines and AI systems increasingly value traceable assets.
